Community Involvement
In 2005, Taylor self-published a novella titled
The Other Side of Happiness. Twenty percent of sales were donated to Rainbows Canada, a not-for-profit organization offering a no-cost peer support program to children, youth and adults who have experienced or who are experiencing grief. Supporting Rainbows was a natural decision for the writer, whose novella covers many of the topics dealt with in the Rainbows peer support program.
“In her book, ‘The Other Side
of Happiness’, Kristin communicates with poignant
clarity and credibility, the thoughts, actions, and
reactions of the characters who are struggling with
challenges and feelings related to a family torn apart by
broken relationships. I was left with the feeling that
there was a reality starting point to her book!”
Thelma Cockburn, Founding National Director of Rainbows
Canada
“Taylor hands the reader twists
and double-twists, spinning what could have been a typical
narrative into a fresh, surprising, and breathtakingly
painful celebration of human relationships. Moreover,
Taylor can really write. Her language and range of
characterization betrays sophistication beyond her years.
Some of her turns of phrase are simply remarkable in this
very lyrical novella.”
